Welcome to the online home of the Greek American Veterans of Lowell, Massachusetts. Organized on May 16, 1946 as Post 1, generations of Greek-American men from Lowell proudly served their country in war and peace. Though the organization has grown smaller over time, their legacy of service, sacrifice, and community continues to inspire us today.
For many decades, the Greek American Legion Post 1 served as a vital gathering place for Lowell’s Greek community. Located at 228 Worthen Street, the post brought together veterans who had served in conflicts from World War II through the Gulf Wars. Their story is part of the larger tapestry of Lowell’s vibrant Greek immigrant history, which once made the city home to one of the largest Greek populations in America.
